HAPPA is a sanctuary for rescued and abandoned horses and ponies, and is a half hour walk or 5 minute drive from Coldwell Activity Centre. Groups can combine a visit with a scenic walk passed Thursden Valley.

It is a great family day out, with horses to visit, farm maps, wildflower trail and a learning zone. It is set in beautiful countryside and has a cafe selling Lancashire themed homemade food and local produce, and a play area for the children.

Above the cafe is a resource library offering an area for children to learn, and hosting ‘Tommy Trotter’ events throughout the year.  The cafe shares its space with a farm shop offering preserves, cheeses, seasonal produce and tempting gifts. There is easy access from the disabled carpark.

The sanctuary will be opening up to school  groups and other groups for visits. Information TBC , so watch his space.

Whilst staying at Coldwell Activity Centre , why not organise a visit with your group. This would be a great activity as well as our already existing list of activities. You could also book a guided walk in the morning that takes you through Thursden Valley and our activity provider can guide you to HAPPA.
