Combine our cosy rooms with the peace and quiet of the countryside you’re guaranteed to get a good night’s sleep and feel relaxed. With thirteen bedrooms and the ability to sleep up to thirty-seven people, the Coldwell Centre is the ideal place for you and your group.
You’ll feel right at home in our bedrooms, every room is simple yet comfortable – each room has between 2-4 beds, a lamp, a cupboard, and a wardrobe. If you need extra beds, let us know. We can provide extra fold up beds which can be added to the larger rooms at no extra cost.
All our rooms are secure and lockable and have their own key. A Wardrobe and drawers are found in every room allowing you to safely store personal items and clothes.
Many rooms have windows which overlook the gorgeous views of the Lancashire countryside and the reservoir. All the windows can be opened, allowing you to keep cool during those warm months and enjoy the fresh countryside air.
You’ll be kept warm during those colder nights, as every room has a radiator and double glazed windows. The centre itself is well insulated with a dedicated oil heater powering the building. We can also provide you with extra bedding if you need it.
Bedrooms 1 to 4 are at one side of the safety door, while the remaining rooms are at the other side of safety door. This is ideal for schools or religious groups who want to keep the sexes apart.
A room with a private phone is available. The room is designed with group leaders and teachers in mind; you’ll be able to make private phone calls without being disturbed. This room also contains a tuck shop with chocolate, sweets and drinks to purchase. Also we have a large selection of dvd’s to borrow, free Orienteering maps (for the course in the woods)and free walk maps of the local area contained in this room. Also an orienteering course of the beautiful historic area of Wycoller.
The Centre Main entrance has double doors for extra room for wheelchairs. The doors open up straight into the building with just a lip on the door entrance base for wheelchairs to easily enter the building.
Downstairs we have double doors into the spacious lounge with leather setees eitherside leaving a wide open space for wheelchairs to manoeuvre easily.
The bedrooms have full-disabled access with a large lift connecting the ground floor with the first floor.Upstairs there is a disabled friendly toilet.
The Centre has a large wet room, with disabled shower and toilet. The room is located on the ground floor and is big enough for wheelchairs to enter. The room is fitted with safety aids and has an adjoining bedroom.
The dining space is adequate. There is also the option to use the conservatory function room for extra dining space (this is an extra cost but would also include a late check-out for Sunday departures).There is stone steps down into the conservatory from the dining room , but can be entered from the outside entrance for wheelchair users. Again the entrance has a flat entrance into the conservatory,ideal for wheelchair users. The function space also has a wheelchair friendly toilet, along with lots of space inside for dining or for whatever purpose needed.
Outside the conservatory there is a play area patio with outdoor picnic benches, two of which have been designed for wheelchair users in mind. From the play area there is a path to the left out to a cabin, available either with the Centre or for day events. This has a wheelchair accessible path leading straight into the cabin. Follow the path right from the play area takes you to the woods with a horse-shoe path in the clearing suitable for wheelchair users.
We have many of our activities that are suitable for wheelchair users and other disabilities. Also if you have a fishing licence or you can obtain a temporary licence, you can fish on the lower Coldwell reservoir opposite. This now boasts of having a wheelchair friendly jetty to fish.
Why not save money and go self catering when you stop at Coldwell. With a fully equipped kitchen you’ll easily be able to feed your group. Our kitchen is the perfect place to serve hearty meals after a hard day of activities. The kitchen is well equipped , stainless steel and has the following features:
Adjacent to the kitchen is a large dining room which will comfortably seat up to thirty-six people. Food can be served to this room through the serving hatch and door. We also have door that extend out to our Cafe down a few stone steps, this can be used when the Cafe is closed for an additional charge. This would be perfect for any functions ideally for birthday’s anniversaries, family get-together s. The Cafe has fantastic views of the opposing reservoir.
If you don’t’ fancy cooking that’s fine, Coldwell is located ten minutes drive away from the delightful market town town of Colne full of independent shops and cafe’s . Or you can opt for take-aways (Chinese, Indian, Fish and Chips, KFC, McDonalds). Please ask staff for details on local take-aways that know our location well.

When you stop at Coldwell you can pick the food plan to suit your needs and budget; we can supply you with three meals a day; provide just breakfast; or supply a buffet. All menus can be catered to suit your particular dietary needs (halal, vegetarian, vegan, , food allergies, etc). You decide what you want and we’ll make it.
Our spacious lounge is fantastic for get-togethers, family parties, and celebrations. The lounge has settees and armchairs; TV (with Freeview) with DVD player; it’s a great place to watch movies, play games, or catch up.
Wheelchair users will find the lounge easy to move around in, it’s wide, the floor is flat, and the rooms are linked with double doors that can be wedged open.
You’ll find loads of games for kids and adults to play at the Coldwell centre, including; a pool table, a piano, and a table football . You don’t have to pay to use them, they’re all free.
You’ll find even more entertainment in our console room. The room has a wall projector, an Xbox 360. Imagine the fun you’ll have playing your family and friends on a 6ft x 6ft screen.
The room comes with comfy settees and chairs, and is far enough away from the lounge so you won’t get disturbed by the noise. It’s the ideal place for kids to escape their parents, teachers, or supervisors.
Free wireless broadband is available when you stay. Just ask our staff for the password and you’ll be able to use it.
Enjoyed your team building activities, why not perform a presentation about them using our conference room with interactive whiteboard.
The room contains office tables and chairs and can seat up to forty people; it’s an excellent place for your group to do their homework, paperwork, and write-ups.
With a spacious lounge, pool table, table football and game console room, the Coldwell Centre is ideal for family celebrations. Popular for milestone birthdays , anniversaries or just a general get-together where you have the time and space to enjoy the time with your family over the 2 nights or sometimes more. The centre is isolated, and not near any busy roads or public areas. You can let you children play around the centre and not have to worry about them getting bored with the play area, woods and land available.

We also have a patio area play area with picnic benches , it is all yours for your children to enjoy.

With no neighbours to disturb, bands and groups can practice all night. Also, your expensive instruments will be secure inside the alarmed building. And you’ll be sleeping right above them for extra peace of mind.
Wet clothes, boots all muddy after a hard day’s activities, then stick them our drying room. They’ll be heated overnight and dry by the morning – ready for another full day of activities.
We have a free washer and dryer for muddy and soiled clothes. There’s no charge for using these machines, they’re included in your accommodation package. We’ll also provide the washing powder.
